Texas Employers Council Seminars

In conjunction with the Employment Law Advisory Network, the Texas Employers Council is sponsoring a series of employment law seminars and training for employers. The seminars are all-day events focusing on employment law topics about which owners, managers, and other supervisory personnel need to know. The topics at these seminars are presented by leading employment law attorneys in your area who are known not only for their subject matter expertise, but also for their ability to get the information across to employers in plain terms and in interesting and engaging ways. Those who attend always come away with nuts-and-bolts information and practical tips that they can put to use immediately back in their businesses.

Texas Employers Council's 2002 seminar series begins with four all-day seminars in February, 2002 in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston, Texas on unemployment insurance law and how to deal with the Texas Workforce Commission in handling claims and appeals (click here for the schedule). Topics include how to respond to claim notices, what to say and not say regarding a claim, demonstrating how and why an ex-employee should be disqualified from benefits, how to protect your tax account from costly chargebacks, how to keep a continuing eye on an ex-employee's claim activity, how to prepare for and survive appeal hearings, and the most important pitfalls to avoid under the UI law. The value:  No other seminar even comes close: in addition to being able to get straight information from expert attorneys and ask them questions, attendees also receive comprehensive written materials from the speakers, a conference "notebook" on a CD-ROM in user-friendly, fully-searchable software format, substantial discounts on ELANet software, and free e-mail consultation support from employment law attorneys for 30 days after the program to ensure that all follow-up questions from the seminars are answered. The conference is approved for 5.5 recertification credit hours by the American Payroll Association, and each attendee will receive a certificate of attendance showing 5.5 continuing education units (CEUs) for use with various professional organizations in the human resources and payroll fields. As a special bonus, each conference CD will include a fully-licensed copy of ELANet's complete guide to unemployment insurance law in Texas, Unemployment Insurance: A Survival Guide for Employers, a $150.00 value.

The price:  $235.00 per attendee, with group discounts available ($225 each for two or more from the same organization).
